Wild animals often pass through Windward's natural Maine habitat. Our guests frequently see deer in the early morning hours or afternoon's dusk.

The Island of Mount Desert is considered a bird watcher's paradise where over 270 species of water, shore and land birds have been sighted. An eagle or an osprey sighting is considered a vacation highlight for many of our guests at Windward Cottages.

Watch for eagles, osprey and seals hunting the cove waters right from your picture window. Or take out one of our canoes or kayaks for a closer look.
